If Sigourney Weaver is the big-screen queen of sci-fi, who would be the rightful reigning king? Harrison Ford springs to mind (three “Star Wars” films, ”Blade Runner” and now “Cowboys & Aliens”) as does Bruce Willis (“Twelve Monkeys,” “The Fifth Element” as well as genre films like “The Sixth Sense” and ”Sin City”), but it’s hard to argue against Arnold Schwarzenegger (three “Terminator” movies, ”Predator,” “Total Recall,” “The Running Man,” ”True Lies,” etc.). But here’s another graybeard nominee: The Dude himself, Jeff Bridges.
Consider his film credits: “Tron,” “Tron: Legacy,” “Starman,” “King Kong,” “Iron Man” and ”K-PAX,” as well as the Terry Gilliam fantasy films “The Fisher King” and “Tideland.” Coming up, he will star opposite Ryan Reynolds in the comic-book adaptation ”R.I.P.D.” before going into fantasy-epic mode in Sergey Bodrov’s dark take on “The Seventh Son,” adapted from Joseph Delaney’s “The Wardstone Chronicles.” [FOR THE RECORD: The author was misidentified in an earlier version of this post.]
I sat down with Bridges last week to talk about his music career for an upcoming Los Angeles Times article, but the topic turned briefly to movies of the fantastic.
“You can get into big ideas with science fiction about who we are and you can put these amazing [visions] on the screen,” Bridges said. “The crazy thing is the technology is changing so fast now that it’s like you reinvent things every few years. They haven’t even invented the cameras we’ll be using on ‘The Seventh Son,’ you know?”
He also spoke a bit about the big-screen version of “R.I.P.D.” — it stands for “Rest in Peace Department” – which is being directed by Robert Schwentke and stars Kevin Bacon and Stephanie Szostak. The supernatural buddy-cop film is based on the Dark Horse Comics adventures and is slated to reach theaters in June 2013.
“I’m prepping for this movie ’R.I.P.D.’ with Ryan Reynolds,” Bridges said. “Ryan. He’s a good guy. That was exciting, too, seeing all of the artwork. It’s going to be fun and strange. This movie is really out there. We’re a couple of dead cops looking for dead people who are pretending to be alive. “

Re: R.I.P.D.
I'm puzzled.
Enfin le concept est curieusement détonnant, espérons que ça donne quelque chose de correct.
