THE MASTER CLASS

The Foundry's Simon Robinson will be kicking us off with an introduction to the wonderful world of stereo and the terminology used. Andy Milns from Intition Real 3D will follow with a session covering the stereo shoot - what kit we used, why and how. The rest of the day will tackle the challenges encountered working with the stereo footage from a compositing perspective as we attempt keying, rotoscoping, projection, adjusting convergence, correcting polarisation errors and camera tracking. Tom Williamson from CafeFX will be revealing how they completed 2D to 3D conversion on Alice in Wonderland. Jon Wadelton will also provide a sneak peek at the new features coming soon in Nuke 6.1.

THE SHOOT

As we mentioned in our last email, the team completed the stereo shoot at Pinewood on a VERY cold day with hip hop International World Champions 'Plague'. Our voyage of discovery was expertly guided by Campbell Goodwille from Inition 3D who will also be taking part in the Master Class.

THE PRESENTERS

This year we're delighted to be working with Florian Gellinger (Rise FX), Theo Groneneboom (Framestore), Tom Williamson (CafeFX) and Russell Dodgson (Framestore/One Red Pixel) as well as our very own Simon Robinson, Ben Minall and Jon Wadelton. Theo brings his experience working on Avatar at Framestore and Tom his expertise from his work on Alice in Wonderland at CafeFX, but the rest of us are learning as we go.
