Actors Vincent Cassel (A Dangerous Method) and Léa Seydoux (Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol) have signed on to star in Beauty and the Beast, a live-action retelling of the classic fairy tale from director Christophe Gans.

No story details were given for this new production, which will be Christophe Gans' first movie since 2006's Silent Hill. Here's what the filmmaker had to say about this project.

"Although I will keep to a form of storytelling of this timeless fairy tale that is in keeping with the same pace and characters as the original, I will surprise the audience by creating a completely new visual universe never experienced before and produce images of an unparalleled quality. Every single one of my movies has presented me with a challenge but this one is, by far, the most exciting and rewarding."

Richard Grandpierre is producing Beauty and the Beast, which is scheduled to begin production in October. French companies Eskwad and Pathe are backing the project financially.

Beauty and the Beast comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Vincent Cassel, Léa Seydoux. The film is directed by Christophe Gans.

I will surprise the audience by creating a completely new visual universe never experienced before

Je ne sais pas trop à quoi m'attendre sur le look de la bête, mais déjà sous forme humaine Vincent Cassel a un coté bestial/prédateur vraiment marqué !
Et son attitude aristo-arrogant était sympa dans Le Pacte des Loups.

Un des films que j'attends le plus, étant un immense fan de Gans (avant tout pour ses thèmes, sa mise en scène, sa manière d'aborder le Cinéma, etc. parce qu'en terme de qualité c'est pas toujours ça).
